Experienced Oral History Manager

Portsmouth Black History Group is looking for an experienced freelance Oral History Manager who can help deliver our project titled ‘Portsmouth Black Stories’. This exciting project, will allow you to work with committed Africans and Caribbeans living in Portsmouth, volunteers and external partners, principally the Portsmouth History Centre, run by Portsmouth City Council, where the recordings and related transcripts and any accompanying artefacts and photographs, will be deposited.

You will:

– help to produce exhibition materials for pop-up exhibitions to be shown in libraries, community spaces, schools

– work with diverse groups to uncover the richness and diversity of Black lives in Portsmouth and surrounding areas over many years and

– capture and preserve a sample of changes brought about in the cultural, economic and social life of the City

 

The post is for two days weekly for seventeen months, working variable times to include some weekends and evenings. Wages in line with Oral History Society’s recommendations and according to experience.
